What is hotel ownership?
Sunday River's Grand Resort Hotels offer fully deeded property with a unique quarter-ownership program. Our studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom condominiums are located within full-service hotels. Each quarter provides the owner with seven days of usage, approximately every fourth week - for a total of 13 weeks per year. The design of the rotation calendar gives each owner all 52 weeks of the year within a four-year period. Every four years you'll receive Christmas week and New Year's week back to back!

How are the 13 weeks used?
Owners may choose to do one of three things with their weeks:

  1. use the week by staying at Sunday River
  2. rent the week (or use a portion and offer the rest to Sunday River's optional rental program)
  3. exchange the week through RCI or Boyne Vacation Club

Who is hotel ownership right for?
Hotel ownership is ideal for:

  • Those seeking truly turn-key ownership. Imagine having an owner experience that is as care-free as being a guest. And for those who own another vacation property, the convenience of hotel-ownership is ideal.
  • Families or couples looking for an entry into Sunday River. Many people have skied Sunday River and are loyal to it, but are not yet ready to purchase a whole-ownership property. This can be a lower cost (ie out of pocket expense) way to experience the mountain and a perfect introduction to resort ownership.
  • Vacationers. The access to worldwide destinations is a true benefit of the ownership (see Boyne Vacation Club). Current owners that swap their time really take advantage of the travel opportunities and enjoy exploring new destinations.
  • Frequent Sunday River guests. For the visitor who stays at the resort 3-5 times a year, quarter ownership is an ideal fit. The ability to rent the unit during non-stay periods offers some off-set to the carry costs. And, if an owner happens to come up just for the day, all the amenities are available for use, anytime.
  • ·Area homeowners: There are a number of people who own property on resort or in the Sunday River region who purchase a hotel quarter for access to the amenities. This works well for those that have guests or wish to have use of some of the hotel facilities and services on a more regular basis.

What amenities and services are available to owners and guests?
Hotel amenities include year-round outdoor heated pools and hot tubs, restaurants and fitness rooms. Additional services include massage, child care services, ski valet, access to hotel parking and private owners-only club rooms.

Both hotels are designed to host groups, conferences and events. Many of these take place during the week, ideal for contributing toward rental income.

Is there an option to rent units when they are not owner-occupied?
Sunday River has an optional rental program. Those wishing to participate can simply sign up with the hotel. They benefit from the flexibility of using it when they want and renting during the times they are not on-resort. Sunday River secures a number of groups and conferences. In conjunction with mountain events, there is plenty of opportunity for units to rent.

What is Boyne Vacation Club?
Boyne Vacation Club (BVC) is a vacation club where owners who participate in the hotel rental program can earn points toward vacations. Points allow travel within the Boyne Resorts family, including ever-popular Big Sky, Montana. Additionally, BVC is partnered with Interval International which accesses destinations worldwide as well as cruiselines and other concierge level services.

What is RCI?
Resort Condominiums International (RCI) is a second vacation club opportunity for hotel owners participating in the rental program. Affiliation with RCI allows owners to exchange their weeks with more than 3,300 affiliated resorts worldwide. With resort options in Florida, the Caribbean Islands, Europe and more, the RCI exchange is an affordable way to enhance a vacation lifestyle. This program is run through a ‘week exchange’ where owners donate weeks of their hotel ownership for weeks at other destinations.
